There are some days (most) that I wake up and wish that I could go back to bed and start the day over after seeing a social media post—and that post last week? This one of Mark Zuckerberg.Â
 His PR team is really PR-ing ... and I'm not sure it's really working, especially if you read the comments. Â
But I digress, while Mark is off surfing with beer in hand in a tux, all the social media platforms decided to release new features, mess up some old ones, and generally do what they do best—everything and nothing at once.  Let's dive in! |

And honestly? Trying to see whatever sticks. And it really doesn’t seem like much is sticking at all.  Eeeek. Â
X is planning on redesigning the feed, and if you have the app, you’ve already noticed some major changes with the layout. New tabs “Communities” and “Grok AI” have been added to the bottom of the app. And it seems like next up is removing interaction and engagement buttons from posts.
 Yup. You’ll no longer see repost, like, or reply buttons on posts in your timeline.  “But Mackenzie, how will we engage?!” Â
You will now have to swipe left and right to engage or interact. Yes, just like you’re on a dating app.  Seems like something absolutely no one wants, but X is moving full steam ahead. |

A whole year of Threads and 175 million monthly active users later, I’m still not using Threads all that much.  Whoops.  However, it does seem I’m in the minority as Meta has released data about how people are using the app over the past year and here are some of the more interesting insights: - 63% of Threads are text-only. Yes, no images, no GIFs, straight text. It seems like people really did want a text-only app.

50 million Topic Tags have been created with “BookThreads” and “PhotographyThreads” being the most popular.
- Over 60% of Gen Z and Millennial users love the voice notes option—interesting!
While it still has a looooot of catching up to do to get X’s level of active users (a cool 250 million daily), if Threads can stay on this course, it could soon give X a run for its money. |

YouTube says bye-bye AI-generated content đź‘‹ |
AI-generated content is here, there, and everywhere all at once, and social media platforms are scrambling to figure out what the heck to do about it! Â
Last month, YouTube quietly rolled out a new policy where people can request YouTube to remove AI-generated content that stimulates their face or voice.  HUGE.  As part of its responsible AI agenda, people can request to have the AI content removed stating it’s a privacy violation. Â
While it doesn’t mean that the content will automatically be removed, YouTube said it will decide if something should be taken down or not, while also giving the original content uploader 48 hours to act on the complaint.  Will this new policy mean all complaints will be taken seriously? No, but it does seem like a small step in the right direction. |
