Woah! Instagram changed ... again. 👀

While it might seem like a little bit of a quiet week when it comes to new features from social media platforms, it sure isn't quiet when it comes to things happening behind the scenes (yes, we're talking about you, Meta AI) and companies releasing their own merch (hi, X). 

However, before I say it was too quiet, there were still quite a few things released this week, and I have rounded it all up for you in this handy-dandy newsletter.

It seems after X decided to limit the way blocking works, even more people have abandoned ship and headed to Threads.

Last week, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Threads has over 275 million monthly active users and over one million signs up each day.

Woah.

So if you, like me, at one point thought Threads wasn’t going to be THAT GIRL, well, we were wrong. RIP.

Threads is still in its early stages with no ads (#blessed) and people are still figuring out what to do and say over there—so it’s still a great time to get into the app and figure it out. Because sooner or later, it might need to be added to your marketing strategy.

This feels like a weird move but I guess with the price of X plummeting and users leaving the platform left, right, and center, it makes … sense?

X is changing its API pricing (but adding cheaper yearly plans!) and limiting the capabilities of the free plan.

The new changes have brought a lot of backlash (obviously), and it seems like it could mean more people unsubscribing from the subscription or not using the app overall.

The new pricing options are:

👉 Basic: will increase from $100 to $200

👉 Top-Ups: Basic and Pro will have limited top-ups

👉 Emergency + Public Utility Apps: will have 2x higher access levels for free

While some of these changes are great—cheaper yearly plans and higher limits—it is still pretty pricey for what’s being offered.

Let’s see if this helps X get some money back into its pockets.

😬 Have Fun: This trend uses humor to highlight ironic or satirical advice. It starts by presenting two "rules" or pieces of guidance. The first rule is generally positive but somewhat generic. However, the punchline is that the second rule simply instructs the viewer to follow the first rule, creating a humorous circularity.

🥲 I Have Been Waiting For This: This trend uses an audio clip from an unknown source where a man excitedly exclaims, "Oh, I've been waiting for this! Oh boy, I've been waiting for this!" The audio is layered over videos of people reacting to something with exaggerated joy and anticipation, creating a humorous contrast.
