Remember when people were scratching their heads and going, “oh this is creepy!” when an AI version of Kendall Jenner was making the rounds on Instagram?

Yeah, well all the money Meta gave celebrities to hand over their likeness and voice to be AI Chatbots seems to be for nothing. The social media platform has shut down the chatbots and you can no longer talk to the alter-ego version of your favorite celebrity.

Sad!

But fear not, friends. Because Meta isn’t taking away chatbots altogether. No, no, no! It is now allowing content creators make their own chatbots of themselves.

Long live Snapchat? Words I never thought I would say.

While most social media apps are struggling to figure out how to get people to pay and subscribe, Snap seems to have it figured out.

Last week, Snap announced that Snapchat+ is now up to 11 million paying subscribers, which makes it one of the most successful social subscription out there.

While we have to wait until September to see if the two bills will be made into law, last week the US Senate passed two online child safety bills: Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act and the Kids Online Safety Act (Coppa 2.0 and Kosa).

The bills have had some major controversy but claim to work towards protecting kids and teens mental health, privacy, and data.

Those who have opposed the bill (tech companies and the American Civil Liberties Union) say it will cause censorship and could result in minors losing access to content relevant to them that they might not feel comfortable asking those around them.

It would be surprising if the bill doesn’t pass, especially after the 91-3 vote in Senate, and if it does, it will be interesting to see what happens next.
