Facebook has decided it wants to officially be “down with the kids,” and redesigning the app is its first step.
The new big focus for the app? Entertainment and even more entertainment.
Over the years, there has been quite a decline in young people on Facebook (no shocker there!) and now Meta is looking for a way to bring those youngins back!
After noticing a shift of people being into Marketplace and Facebook Groups, Facebook had a lightbulb moment and is now leaning into connecting communities over being a social network.
🌎 Local: There will be a new tab called “Local,” where you’ll give local content (duh) from Marketplace, Groups, and Events all in one place. You’ll find new groups, local events, and more in this tab to help you connect with people and things in your area.
📍 Explore: The Explore tab is getting upgraded! Not only is it getting a more permanent spot on the app, it will now connect you with any and all interests you have. DIY photoshoots? Yes. Bengal cats? Absolutely. Whatever your interests, they will soon show up there in a new TikTok-style FYP.
🥳 Events: The events tab will now have a weekly and weekend roundups of things you can do in your local area based completely on what you like.
It seems like Facebook and Meta are truly leaning into the recommendations space. 😬
