ICYMI: Meta is using your data to train its AI across all of its various platforms—unless you opt out of it, that is.
Â
But, it’s not exactly making opting out very easy.
Â
Word on the street is Meta is using Facebook posts created by users to help train its AI, which isn’t THAT surprising. But why make it so hard and convoluted to say, “Facebook, no data taking!”
Â
Instead of clicking a button to say “no,” you have to go into your Policy Updates on Meta and click the link that says “right to object.”
Â
From there, you have to fill out the form and explain why you think Facebook shouldn’t let AI get an all access pass to your posts. You’ll then receive an email with a passcode you must submit, and then you’ll receive confirmation that Meta has received your request.
Â
Yes, not that you’re opted out, but that Meta will decide if you’re allowed to opt out.
Â
*screams*
Â
While there is a possibility this will change in the future when new regulations around AI come about, but by then it could be too late and Meta’s AI will know you better than you know you.
