First, thank you SO much to everyone who filled out the survey from last week. You’re all stars and I loveyouverymuch. I’m working on a *~refresh~* that’s coming soon and I know you’ll love it! Â
Second, holy cow, social media news went off this week. Particularly, Meta. They really weren’t messing around this week. From new features to Zuckerberg being one of the most hated people in America to Meta trying (and failing) to make Facebook cool again. Do they get sleep over there? It sure doesn’t seem like it.Â

It’s going down in the IG DMs 💌 |
Instagram knows that the best way to keep users engaged on its platform is through DMs, which is why it keeps releasing new features in the DMs.
Last week, Instagram released so. many. features. So much so that I have to dedicate this whole section to the new features.Â
How many times can I say “features”?
It seems like IG is trying to compete and be the #1 messaging app for friends and family (even competing with Meta’s other messaging app, WhatsApp … strange).Â
Now, what new tools have been added to make messaging more fun on the app? Let’s dig in: - Message Translations: Whoop! You can now translate your messages into 99 (!!) different languages. That’s a whole lot of languages. Hold down on the DM and click “translate.”
-
Scheduled Messages: If you know anything about me, you’ll know I love a good scheduled message. You can now schedule all of your texts to be sent at a later time.
-
QR codes: Yes, the pesky QR code won’t ever die. You can now invite friends to your group or Channel by sharing a QR code of that chat.
-
Music Sticker: For those times you want to share new songs with your friends, the Music Sticker lets you easily find songs and share them.
Now, I know I am most excited about translations and scheduling (gimme gimme gimme!), but I need to know which ones you’re most pumped about?! |

The hater button has arrived đź‘Ž |
You know what we all need during these … strange times? A button to say you don’t like something. That’s definitely what we need!
Yes, I know that TikTok and Reddit already have an option to downvote something, but introducing it to Meta’s apps seems to be entering some murky territory.Â
People are mean!! Have you seen the anonymous comments people leave just because they can get away with it? And now we’re adding in a thumbs down button to help them hate? Nah, I’m not so sure about this one.
According to the Head of Instagram, Mr. Mosseri himself, Â
“This gives people a private way to signal that they don’t feel good about that particular comment. There is no dislike count, nor will anyone know if you tap the button, eventually, we may integrate this signal into comments ranking to move disliked comments lower down.” Â
Okay, well, if the second part happens, I might be on board. But until then, what’s really the point of disliking something no one will see or know about? Just so you personally feel good about clicking the button?Â
It’s not rolled out yet, and the last time Meta tried this (because yes, they have tried a few times) it didn’t go well. Perhaps this newer idea of downgrading the comments that get the most thumbs down could help combat some nasty replies, but until that happens, I’ll remain skeptical. |
The top trending sounds and songs you need to use to go viral this week. Â
🧠Nothing In My Brain: Use this funny audio to highlight how difficult it is to come up with a new idea, product, content, and more.Â
📆 Everyday: A great audio to highlight how often you do something, like working, on social media, thinking about something, etc.Â
Â
🤯 Crazy story: This is a great POV audio that is funny and will definitely engage your audience. Use it as a POV of someone telling you a crazy story, but you need to film content at the same time.
