It’s happening here, there, and everywhere! Governments are taking a hit out against social media apps and Australia is the next in line to officially ban social media for under 16s.
Yes, all social media.
In a recent announcement, the Prime Minister explained “Social media is doing harm to our kids, and I’m calling time on it. I’ve spoken to thousands of parents, grandparents, aunties, and uncles. They, like me, are worried sick about the safety of our kids online.”
How will the new rules work? Well … it seems like Australia is still working on it, and even admits that some kids will still be able to access apps.
However, the long and short of the policy puts the enforcement of age restrictions on the apps themselves.
It’s an interesting move and one, I’m sure, lots of other countries will be looking at to see how they can effectively make similar moves themselves.
If these kids are anything like I know them to be, the sneaky ways they access social media will be a sight to behold.
