The TikTok ban has been extended again, by another 75 days. Honestly, can we just get a decision here? I think we’re all bored with this by now.
The final day of the 75-day extension President Trump signed back in January was this weekend, and he has now signed off on another 75-day extension. He announced on Truth Social: “My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress [...] which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days. We hope to continue working in Good Faith with China, who I understand are not very happy about our Reciprocal Tariffs”
Earlier this year, the White House explained that a deal was arranged for a US entity of TikTok would be created with America owning a large percentage and ByteDance owning “19.9%.” America would “lease” the algorithm that makes TikTok so addictive. Whether or not this will actually happen is yet to be seen, and we have a whole 75 days to see what happens.
